History

The modern course began when the local council purchased the Kinghorn Links in 1886, commissioning Old Tom Morris to design the original 9‑hole course, opened on 23 July 1887.

It was later expanded to 18 holes in 1906 under the direction of Willie Fernie of Troon. The course remains a characterful par‑65 layout with natural contours and sweeping coastal views.
